Meet Dr. Liz Murphy, a compassionate and experienced veterinarian with a unique journey in the world of medicine. From her early days in southern Indiana, Dr. Murphy felt a profound connection with animals and a passion for medicine. Initially pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant, she dedicated herself to Pediatric Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital after graduating from Duke University.
Driven by her deep love for animals, Dr. Murphy later took a transformative step in her medical career by applying to the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. This decision marked a turning point, opening the door to a fulfilling life as a veterinarian. Over the course of 25 years, Dr. Murphy practiced in Indianapolis, gaining valuable experience and insights into the beautiful relationships shared between people and their pets.
Always one to embrace change, Dr. Murphy, along with her husband Mark Kesling, their beloved shaggy dog Sally, and charming cat Puppy, returned to her favorite place in New England – Cape Cod. Beyond her veterinary expertise, Dr. Murphy finds joy in various hobbies, including hiking, kayaking, and expressing her artistic side through pet portraits, photography, and writing.
In 2017, Dr. Murphy authored the book “How to Age-Proof Your Dog: The Art and Science of Successful Canine Aging” (Rowman and Littlefield), showcasing her commitment to enhancing the well-being of furry companions. With a heart full of love for animals and a wealth of experience, Dr. Liz Murphy continues to make a positive impact in the lives of pets and their owners.
