Ultrasound Services

Ultrasound is a valuable, non-invasive diagnostic tool that allows us to get a real-time, detailed look at your pet’s internal organs. At Brewster Veterinary Hospital, we offer different types of ultrasounds based on your pet’s needs:

Global FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma, Triage, and Tracking) Ultrasound:

  • A rapid, targeted ultrasound used in emergency and critical care situations.
  • Helps detect internal bleeding, fluid buildup, or abnormalities in the abdomen and chest.
  • Useful for evaluating pets in distress or those with unexplained symptoms.

Full Abdominal Ultrasound

  • Provides a comprehensive evaluation of abdominal organs, including the liver, spleen, kidneys, stomach, intestines, bladder, and pancreas.
  • Helps diagnose conditions such as tumors, organ enlargement, inflammation, bladder stones, or gastrointestinal issues.
  • Recommended for pets with unexplained weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in appetite.

Echocardiogram (Cardiac Ultrasound)

  • A specialized ultrasound used to assess the structure and function of the heart.
  • Helps diagnose heart disease, valve disorders, fluid around the heart, or abnormal heart function.
  • Recommended for pets with heart murmurs, irregular heartbeats, breathing difficulties, or other cardiac concerns.
